On June 18, the car carrier LIDER BULUT developed a heavy starboard list and requested assistance in front of Tuapse Port, Russia, Black Sea. She anchored shortly after arriving from Samsun, Turkey, but later developed a list – reputedly due to improper ballasting – heaved anchor and was towed inshore.

As of 0345 UTC on Jun 19, the ship’s AIS was on, and no tugs or aux boats were visible nearby, indicating that it was likely waiting for daylight. She appears to have been deliberately grounded in shallows along the shore to avoid capsizing.
