Evergreen, the owner of the Ever Forward ship that is still aground off the coast of Baltimore, has hired Donjon-Smit to help refloat the ship. The ship has been trapped in the mud since it left the Port of Baltimore on its way to Norfolk, Virginia, on Sunday night.
The ship was not harmed in the incident, according to underwater assessments. While no signs of fuel leaking have been discovered, the US Coast Guard has instructed the ship’s crew to conduct soundings of all tanks, bilges, and voids every four hours to monitor for pollution and report any changes in stability, draft, or position, or signs of oil discharge.

In a tweet on March 15, Sal Mercogliano, a marine historian at Campbell University in North Carolina, noted that the Ever Forward’s bow is almost 4 meters above the water, demonstrating how high up on the sand the ship is positioned.
The weight of the cargo is an issue in the plan to refloat the ship, according to Evergreen, suggesting that it may be necessary to remove containers off the ship in order to refloat it.
