Zoe Keller, an artist based in Portland, Maine, is shining a light on the diverse creatures that call the ocean home through her series called Ocean Biodiversity. The digital depictions in her artwork showcase marine life from octopus to jellyfish, capturing the breadth of underwater organisms in detail.

Keller was inspired to create Ocean Biodiversity after being approached by the PangeaSeed Foundation, who asked her to contribute prints that raised awareness about biodiversity loss. “Some of the most incredible, dream-like, alien creatures on Earth live below the waves. I have had an amazing time building this Marine Biodiversity Series in partnership with PangeaSeed,” Keller explains.

Each piece in the series features a unique arrangement of underwater species floating against a dark background. Keller hopes that her work will introduce people to new species, inspire them to see the beauty in traditionally maligned creatures, and encourage them to look closely at the world around them. Her art will be on display at the Antler Gallery in Portland, Oregon in June 2022, and prints are available for purchase on her online store.
