MANILA, Philippines (12 Jun) —A cargo ship caught fire near the Delpan Bridge in Tondo, Manila, on Saturday, injuring at least six people.

Four crew members of the small cargo vessel MV Titan 8, which caught fire, and two crew members of the adjacent MV Princess Christine were among those injured, according to a report from the Philippine Coast Guard  (PCG).

The fire was declared extinguished at 2:57 p.m., an hour after it was declared under control at 1:54 p.m., according to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
At 9:10 a.m., a third alarm status was announced. According to the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), it was raised to the fourth alarm at 12:35 p.m. and then to the fifth alarm at 12:43 p.m.


The fire also damaged over 40 residential homes, although the amount of the damage has yet to be assessed.
