By the end of this year, London will be home to the UK’s first environmentally friendly high-speed passenger boats, according to reports.
Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, which provides passenger riverboat services in London, will add two new hybrid vessels to its fleet, the first of which will be launched in the autumn of this year.
The company has also recently entered into negotiations with a local council in Gravesend to purchase the town pier, potentially extending London’s regular riverboat service to Kent.
The two new boats, which were built on the Isle of Wight, will be powered by batteries in central London before switching to biofuel power outside of the zone.
