A product tanker exploded as it prepared to leave a terminal in Bangkok, Thailand, killing one man and critically injuring another. Two more men were injured, but only in minor ways.
Following a tank explosion, the Thai-flagged Smooth Sea 2 exploded at roughly 09.00 hours yesterday morning. The ship had 1.8 million gallons of gasoline and 1.3 million liters of fuel onboard. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes by firefighters.
Around 200 surrounding houses, according to local authorities, may be eligible for compensation as a result of the incident.
