Celebrity Cruises has announced that two brothers will serve as co-captains of Celebrity Ascent, the company’s upcoming new cruise ship, which will debut later this year.
The Greek brothers Dimitrios and Tasos Kafetzis have been named co-captains of Celebrity Ascent, the cruise line’s fourth ship in its industry-revolutionizing Edge class.
The President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, described the brothers as “our star-powered siblings, a maritime dream combo.”
The accomplished maritime brothers will usher in a new era for Celebrity Cruises, taking the helm of the line’s newest relaxed luxury resort at sea, which has been designed by a team of modern lifestyle icons including multi-award-winning British designer Kelly Hoppen CBE; celebrated American designer Nate Berkus and Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud.
On December 3, 2023, the Celebrity Ascent will make its first voyage from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean before sailing to Europe for the summer season of 2024.
