A heartwarming scene unfolded in Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts when a rare sighting of a North Atlantic right whale and her calf swimming side by side was captured on March 27.
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution shared the footage, which showed Spindle, a right whale, feeding and swimming with her calf. The critically-endangered species typically travels along the New England coast during the springtime, according to the NOAA Fisheries.
Last month, a fourth of the total population was spotted off the coast of Cape Cod, as reported by the Boston Globe.
