According to rescue agencies in Hong Kong, a South China Sea-based industrial support ship has sunk in a typhoon with the potential loss of more than two dozen crew members.

Authorities sent out planes and helicopters to help with the rescue, which resulted in the recovery of at least three of the 30 crew members.

The sinking vessel, which had split into two parts, was being lashed by powerful waves as one crew member was winched up to a rescue helicopter in footage made public by the Hong Kong Government Flying Service. Typhoon Splits Offshore Vessel in South China Sea; 24 Crew Members Missing.
